Ok I had my carry folder needs all met till I got this CQC 7.Now I find myself carrying this one a lot.I love everything about it except the blade to handle ratio.I know this is just a personal hang up for me,but it bugs me.
For size comparision only,my Rookie has a blade about1/4 inch shorter but the handle is a full inch shorter. My co-workers CRKT 3 inch Kasper has a blade about the same lenght and a much shorter handle also. Now some of the guys say well your handle gives a real nice grip, well yes,but how about squeezing a little more blade into it?

Why is it like this? Is it where the pivot is placed, the shape of the handle? Is this a built in design if so why?

Thank You.

While I can't say for sure what Ernie was thinking when he designed this one, it seems to me that...

The CQC7 is a fighting knife. Granted, the blade is shortened so as to comply with local law in various places, (Mini CQC for even more restrictive areas) but just because you have a smaller blade, does not mean you need less GRIP. The grip size is made for good retention during hard strikes, and I suspect that aesthetics were allowed to fall by the wayside just a bit in favor of usability. (Although it looks just fine to me!)

To be a little pedantic, the more grip you have, the more GRIP you will have.

The "handle" size of the CQC7B fits my hand perfectly, I wouldn't want it even an eighth of an inch shorter, YMMV of course.

The CQC-7 does look as though it could use a little more blade. I really don't have any big complaints about mine, but seeing as there is room, a penny's worth of ATS-34 could have made the blade a tad longer without changing much of anything else on the knife.
