Here's a question for you...If I have a knife customizer install a set of custom scales on my Buck 110, can I still send it in for a blade upgrade??? Or do I need to get the blade upgrade first and then send it out for oyster shell scales???

Rich,
You should probably call Buck, but it seems to me that you're paying for the blade upgrade so there's no warranty issues. I don't see any reason why you couldn't do it in either order.

I would do the blade trade first, then put the scales on.

Oyster shell could be damaged during the bladeswap.

Mike - I was concerned that *any* aftermarket work might void the warranty...whether I was paying for it or not... :(

Especially with all the knives on eBay lately that may or may not be legitimate...

Very fragile??? That is good to know...

I'm not totally sure how fragile it is, but it's gotta be more so than wood, to me personally, it would seem a MUCH bigger risk of ending up with a damaged handle if you put any shell on before having a new blade put in.

Assuming that Buck wold even do accept the risk of doing it with shell handles that weren't factory?

Kinda curious myself to see if they will.

If you're paying for it then the warranty is not in play. Think of how many people buy 110's with the blade broken off (me) and then send it in to Buck for a new BG-42 blade along with a check for $35. No warranty issue at all. Why would they care what kind of scales the knife has or how they got there?
