It's obvious that you've done your best work with this knife, Dave.
Way to raise the bar for yourself. This is the best knife you've ever made.
It shows a level of 'seriousness' that many of your knives don't attempt to achieve, and I love it.

Dave, what a beautiful and interesting Bowie.
It has so much going for it, such as the uniqueness of the blank centerline of the feather pattern, the artifact "fire starter" ivory, the blade profile, the contrasting damascus patterns. Need I go on? ;)

The only thing I would question is perhaps the depth/width of the guard.

Please supply BL & OAL.

Terrific damascus and gorgeous artifact ivory. I'm also a bit unsure about the thickness and width of the guard - probably something I'd have to see in person to resolve. I'd be happy to inspect it for you for a few weeks. :p

Keep up the great work Dave.

Roger

That's pretty! I'll look forward to seeing this one in person, assuming you make sure it stays on your table for at least Friday. (I'm saying that it'll likely sell quickly, so I hope I get to at least see it before the buyer packs it away :))

I love the overall appearance of this knife, The damascus is great and the ivory is amazing. But as a few others I'm not sure about the width/depth of the guard, the shape of the guard however is appealing.

Marcel

I think that's beautiful.
It has a distinctive look (great guard!), and every serious maker wants to develop a distictive. personal style.

I'd agree that the guard profile isn't my favorite feature, but that damascus is OUTSTANDING Dave. Nice piece of mammoth too:D

Good luck in the competition.

Peter

Thank you all for the kind words and I will keep it on the table as I would like you to hold this knife. It is my first shot at this shape of guard it looked good to me I just hope the judge likes it.

Very nice Dave. I think you may have a winner on your hands! The ivory is incredible. Did you raid Don Hanson's stash:D?

I'm not sure what I think of the guard, but the knife has such an original look that overall I like it very much. The blade steel is fabulous.

Dave, your nicest work I've had the pleasure of viewing.
From the pics, I, for one, really like the guard.
Great feather damasus and sweet artifact ivory.
Went back and looked at your s guards in the S Guards thread and this one is on another level comparatively speaking.
Best of luck at the Bowie Competition.
