So I bought a half whittler from RR and although the quality was pretty good it did have some side to side play in both blades.
Last night I figured it was a $7 knife so why not experiment but hammering the bolsters on a hard surface. It definitely fixed the play. It also left scratches on the bosters that was mostly buffed out.
Can most folders with blade play be fixed with this method? Next time I would use a softer hammer/mallet and use a cloth between the bolster and the hitting surface to prevent scratching.
Now this RR is really almost perfect.
Can't wait to try and build that RR Stockman kit; need tools. I also have a few old knives that could use a rebuild. I am getting inspired by other forum member's projects that hey have posted.
