Is there a definitive way to repair blade wobble( side to side) in slip joints without tearing the knife down? I have an older boker stockman that (yes, stupid I know) I let someone borrow one day. Why in the hell would anyone think a knife is a good way to open a paint can?
So is there an easy fix for this?

Well.... there is the caveman method ( my method). :D
Seriously , what I have done ,- and I am not advocating you to do this unless you are comfortable with the possible outcome- is to lay one side of the bolster on say , a vise 'anvil' , cover the 'anvil' with a soft cloth so as to not mar your bolster , then take two small squares of duct tape and pad your hammer head , then gently tap on the exposed side of the bolster , stopping maybe every two taps to see your progress , basically all you are doing is tightening your bolsters and the pin back up. The drawback is if you overtighten them , that is why you have to be cautious doing this.
It does work however.
