blade wobble

hey guys..i have a 1979 large case hunter 6165 L that has alot of side to side blade wobble, i emailed case and they told me its a discontinued model and they may not be able to fix it, any DIY fix for this ? thankees

I hate the blade wobble also. What I do is set it on a hard surface (hardened steel block or Granet surface plate) with a layer of paper towel between the bottom bolster and the surface (move the paper towel after each hit for maximum protection). Then softly keep hitting it with a the flat side of a small ballpeen hamer (right over the pin). I really have to get eye level so the hits are controled. Some times i file the surface of the bolsters and repolish to get any dings out.

Others may have better ideas, you may want to wait and read them.:D

thanks kidiak, figure i'll give it a few days to see if theres any other ideas and then i'll give that a whirl
 
A little blade wobble, from what I hear, is good for the knife. I would be careful to not hit it too hard. You could end up with a knife that needs pliers to open.

A couple of small pieces of balsa wood make great cheap soft grips, so does leather. Try to not hit the pin directly and gently. It's easier to tighten than loosen.
