I've had this happen a couple of times recently.
When your non-forum knife nut friend buy a knife on their own, and they can't wait to show you what knife they got. When they do, you feel proud that they chose such a good one, but then they tell you how much they paid, and you get that feeling of disappointment that they spent so much on it when you could've gotten it for them for much less. Now, you can't just up and tell them that, since then it would make them feel bad about the knife they got (I never want to make someone feel bad they bought a good knife), but that feeling never really goes away for me where I wish I could've helped them, if only they would've asked. It's not like they didn't know I am a buying/selling member here.
Do any of you have that problem? Have someone who you have watched get into knives the expensive way (buying new), and reject knives you own as too expensive even though you've told them how little you spent on them, only to spend near the same amount on something quite a bit less expensive, without even asking if you've seen it for sale on the exchange or anything.
It's a bittersweet thing for me, it's hard buying all my knives on the exchange, it warps my sense of knife prices.
