BladeForums is great, how to make it better!

BladeForums is a top 3 website for me. I check it daily, if not hourly. It is apart of my life, and I love it. There are not many things I would change, at all. Seriously, this site is absolutely amazing. But nothing in life is perfect. Maybe we can have an ongoing list on suggestions to make BladeForums even better! I'll start:

How bout being able to view all the pages in a single thread? I know you can search in individual threads, but I think it would be much easier to view all 15 pages of a thread at once. Easier to Control + F and not at clunky as the search forum function.
 
Excellent idea however Spark likely has to pay for additional functionality unless he is running a rack of servers, switches and storage devices in his basement. Oh and the power, cooling and pipes coming into that basement I am confident would be "pricey" as well. The mods here are great and do what they can with what they have. That being said I am happy for my ROI from this site.

I'm not sure what you're suggesting. Do you mean calling up an entire thread at once, instead of going through it by pages of 20 posts at a time? What if it is a 1000 post thread, that's 50 pages, with lots of pictures? That would take a long time to load.

That is what I'm suggesting, sorry if that wasn't clear. It's definitely not something to do with every thread, but just think it would be a good option to have. In no way knocking the system that's in place. Definitely need to upgrade my user status and support BladeForums!
 
We, we can leave the suggestion here. Spark is the only one who can decide on it because only he could implement it.
 
Under General Settings you can change the default thread view from 20 posts to up to 40 posts per page.

Not quite what you are suggesting but a step in that direction.
 
How about everyone has to pay for a membership if they want to buy? I think that would be better for the paying members who support bladeforums. It would keep the non-paying from buying the knives the paying members have been looking/waiting for.
 
My main concern is about what we can do to ensure this place will be here for many years to come, and not about what we can do to make it better.

I agree how about you have to pay to play. At the current membership rates a basic is less than three cents a day!
 
The problem with requiring everyone to pay to participate in the exchange is that it would severely limit sellers audience.
 
You could state in your sales threads that you are only interested in selling to paying members.
Problem solved.
Or if you want to be more subtle you could jack up your sales price 25% and offer a 25% discount to paying members.
 
As rycen said, sellers want to sell and limiting their audience is not in their interests. If buyers or sellers have any other agenda, they can go with it on their own.

There would also be practically no way to enforce it.
 
Want to make it better? Buy yourself a membership and gift one to someone else. :thumbup:
