I'm a heavy Palm Treo user, and I know that with more PDAs and smartphones becoming available, mobile-friendly versions of websites are becoming more popular. These are basically low bandwidth, mostly text-based or low-graphics versions of websites optimized for use on mobile phones. Any chance that BladeForums could get a mobile version?

As if I don't spend enough of my time here... :D

I often check BladeForums through my phone as well.

Basically, my biggest wish in that respect is that all the archived forums on the main page get moved to a single folder named Archive. This would eliminate a large amount of stuff on our front page, and thereby more than double the loading speed.

Other than that, my Mogul has no trouble with BFC's fonts, colors, layout, or presentation.

Lenny - I'm not talking about how the browser formats it for viewing. I'm talking about how long the pages take to load. Text-only loads 10X faster than the full forum with all the graphics.

Opera for the Treo's PalmOS is about as unstable a software package as I've ever used. It's crashed every time I've ever used it, both on the Treo 650 and 755p. That's too bad because I've been an Opera desktop user for several years and love it.

NV - you are the man! That's exactly what I was looking for. Thanks.

Now, would I be pressing my luck to ask for a way to post to threads, too, instead of just reading them when I'm using the PDA mode? :foot:

The unfortunate reality is that vB is based upon a tables, instead of CSS, page layout scheme which causes delays in rendering. From what I understand, this is going to be resolved in the 4.0 version of the software, which probably won't be out for another year or two at least. Hacking the site to make it easier for mobiles isn't an option at this time; you have my sympathies & understanding as I use my iPhone for viewing & replying on here many times myself.
