I passed through the Louvre too quickly on Friday before catching my plane home.
I thought I would share some photos of some of the interesting blades I saw.
(I'll make about 4-5 posts)

Nice pics.
Right, the Louvre isnt a place to rush through (neither is the Hermitage Museum in Sct. Pete, which I found out the hard way).
One day there isnt enough - let alone four.
Ive visited several times and still havent seen it all.

Great stuff. Thanks for posting.

Arms and Armor at the Met in NYC is pretty cool, too.

Really nice Thanks for sharing. The square ended one #7 seems unusual?
My pleasure. Yes, I found many of the details interesting and unusual. The square ended one (almost flaring slightly) might inspire me to make something in the future.
I also like the spiral fluted handled one with the flare going on at the same time.
The axe heads with the four prongs at the back are a new concept in my experience.

Yes, it is. The Tower of London has a few cool objects too as did the big art museum in Munich IIRC. I think that it was a special exhibit but the last time that I was at the British Museum like 10 years ago, they had a Persian exhibit that included a lot of funky fancy arrowheads and other weapons. But they have a lot of everything.

Thank you very much for sharing these pictures! I love seeing these historical weapons.
BTW, the military museum in Paris also has extensive collection of edged weapons.
