can anyone give me a backround/history/review of this gentleman's bladeware? i have heard many good things about this knife/sword maker. i would like to find out more about him.

Mr. Hartsfield's knives are sharp, but the zero ground chisel edge he uses is quite weak for general utility and requires the user to take care of it. Personally, I agree with Mad Dog's assertion that chisel ground edges belong on chisels, not knives.

I have a couple. Overpriced, probably. Fanatical following, yes. Way cool? Oh yes.

These aren't field knives, they are art knives. Worth it to me, not to many other folks. Very simple. Insanely sharp.

Oh -- mine came from Arizona Custom Knives -- a few times a year they get a few of his more popular model knives from Phil.

Much better than waiting 2 years for him to custom make you one.
