Any left handed knife nuts out there?? Which knives do you carry??? I have some knives in my collection which are right handed openers but these tend to be 'Collection Only'. Benchmade seems to cater for us lefties what other makers/knives are lefty-friendly??? TIA

HI....let me first say I carry a BM 710. I feel it is by far the highest quality lefty folder made. Spyderco comes a close second because most of their new models have reversible pocket clips. Kershaw makes the Ramdom Task and CRKT makes a couple of lefty models. And last but not least Microtech just introduced the 2001 LUDT with a reversible pocket clip. Hope this helps.

Doc Van,

I am a lefty and I had the hardest time finding knives to accomadate us. Spyderco was one of the first to manufacture Lefties on a regular basis. Benchmade did for awhile in there liner-locks like the AFCK, Stryker. Since the introduced their Axis-Lock most of the knives are completely ambidextrous. Sog makes a few models in their Arc-Lock line. CRKT and Kershaw also have few in their line as well. Cold Steel now has an offering in the Ultra-Lock in 4 different blade styles.

A good number of custom makers also offer lefthander friendly knives. A few that come to mind are Chris Reeve, Tom Mayo, and Bob Terzuola. Kit Carson I believe also offers them, as well as Pat Crawford. Calling anyone of these makers will give you a better idea of what's to be had.

I personally carry on a daily basis the Chris Reeve Sebenza. I have both a large and small model. I carry the large one everyday, while the smaller knife I carry when the large would be to uncomfortable to carry, such as in a tux in my brothers wedding next week. I'm sure you will find that anyone of these knives worthy of carrying.

Good luck and welcome.

I'm a lefty and right now I have a Spyderco Starmate and a Spyderco SS Dragonfly in my pockets and a Leatherman Wave on my belt. I don't have any problems with the Spydies but I have to open the Wave with my right hand if I want one hand opening. That's tough with the Wave cause it is easy to cut yourself so I often take both hands.

The Spyderhole is truly ambidextrous. Closing of course depends on the lock but I don't find it that hard to operate a liner lock with my left hand. Lockbacks are ambidextrous anyway.

right now i'm carrying a Cris Reeve large Sebenza and a Kershaw Boa which has an ambidextrous opening mechanism, but not closing. I find that it's not at all hard to use most right handed liner locks left handed. I too have gone through a lot trying to find left handed knives. The mini random task knife as well as the regular random task knife is availible in a lefthanded model. There is of course all the axis lock models except the 770 (non reversable clip). Oh also, the new one that looks really nice is the william henry icon, with an ambidextrous locking mechanism (the mattlock). Spideys tend to be less lefty friendly in terms of the clip on their stainless steel handled models, but they're better about it on the zytel handled models. One thing i tend to find is that many knives have an ambidextrous opening mechanism but not closing. so if you can deal with a right handed liner lock for closing it's not too bad. Oh yeah, can't forget the ag russel one hand knife, even though i'm not a big fan of it myself. That and most fixed blades. One good thing about being a lefty is i've saved a lot of money on knives i otherwise would have bought. Keep it up, it's not easy being a lefty in a world of knives designed for righties.

If you can afford to go custom there are a number of makers that will do lefty models. Personally I have gotten left handed folders from Darrel Ralph, Joel Chamblin and Keith Coleman. My daily carry is a lefty Chris Reeve small Sebenza. There are plenty of use lefties around hear.

I consider my self ambidextrous when it comes to knives, I can dress out game with either hand. I'm right handed, but shoot and carry handguns left handed. The only true left handed knife I currently have is a mini-Task. It is my second favorite knife behind our old mini-AFCK. It's hard to beat as a utility knife! RKBA!

My wife is left handed, as is one of my brothers. She carries a Spyderco Delica with the reversible clip everyday on her left side. My brother carries a lefty BM AFCK and a SOG PE II with the Arc lock as well as a Wenger SAK made for lefties.

As a right handed person, I'm glad to see knives designed for both left and right hand use like Benchmade's Axis lock folders and SOG's Arc lock folders and I think many makers are to thank for making left handed models like Spyderco, Chris Reeve, Bob Terzuola, CRKT, Camillus, SOG, Benchmade, Kershaw, Wenger and others.

Thanks guys. A Seb would be great but cash is tight at the moment. So how do you close Right handed liner locks - with your left hand or pass it over to the right hand? Have been working on trying to close my CQC7 w/left hand haven't found the knack yet!
I'm looking at getting a BM705 or AFCK which seem popular. I aslo thank all the Righties for no leftie jokes - left handed screwdriver/hammer etc.

By the way where is the Leftie forum???

My brother carries a lefty BM AFCK

Didn't know BM made a lefty AFCK, that's good news I am a BIG BM fan and I have heard nothing but good about the AFCK!

BM discontinued the Left Handed AFCKs last year, but they are nice.

They were all partially serrated.
