after researching busse knives over the forums, i have gone on a binge! my wife is pissed! (conservative description) my credit cards hurt! anyway i needed to carry them in something (cardboard+duct tape are pretty embarrasing when the blade you draw out is $500). anyway i got hooked up with leather sheaths (thanks chuddy your work is sweeeeeeet!!!) question is, if i store my infi in their leather sheaths, will it increase the chances of oxidation? i've read that leather attracts moister, thus leading to rust on certain steels. i plan on sheathing the blade when in the field. what about when in the rear with the gear?

during long term storage, months or years, it is better to store the knives out of their sheaths.

but that said, i have stored a couple of mine in leather sheaths for extended periods of time, perhaps several weeks to a few months, without taking them out. i have never had any of my busses rust.

as it is now, even the ones i store in leather get taken out and played with often enough that any moisture build up is insignificant.

I will only 'store' a blade in leather if its in my gun-safe with dehumidifier

Users, keep in leather and clean/oil occasionally and you will be set for life.

ironballs, when you say dehumidifier, do you mean silica gel? also, if a dehumidifier is used in a safe, does this adequitly stop moisture build up? also, what size dehumidifier do you use? what is reactivation intervals?
