Looking for something along the lines of a 5"-7" hunting knife or bowie but having a real problem finding one with a sheath that will work for me (lefty). Anyone have any suggestions under $75? Not interested in used blades. Will be general purpose outdoor use, batoning, skinning, etc...

How about getting a knife and having one of the many sheath makers on this forum to make you a custom one? Of course leather may get pricey but kydex sheaths can be had for much less. Hell, even I can make a half-way decent kydex sheath. ;)

i'm a lefty myself. look into the ka-bar/becker knives - bk2, bk7, bk9. they usually go for $70. if you can push your budget up to ~$105, the esee-6 fits your specs too. i have beckers & esee and they're built for heavy use.

I'm a big fan of ESEE as a great American company with a fantastic product. Their knives simply don't fit my hand well. I have several RATs but really looking for something that fits me better. The pictures I'm looking up online of Becker sheaths don't look like they can be worn on the left side. Am I mistaken?

If you're looking for something that will take a licking and keep on ticking, spend an extra $40 and get one of these...

The sheath it comes with is fantastic, I'm actually considering getting a few more next time I order something from them.

I Also have a Becker 9, and can't say enough good about it.
Beckers seem to have a very reasonable edge out of the box. With Bussekin knives I usually end up re-grinding the edge to get it nice and thin,
the edge on the BK-9 was already thin enough the belt sander wasn't necessary.

No knife suggestion but, just in case you aren't aware of this, almost any kydex sheath which uses a Tek-Lock will be ambidextrous.

ka-bar is really good at accommodating us lefties. here's a pic i just took of my short tanto, bk2, & bk9 with the knives partially pulled out:

the bk2's sheath is the 1st gen - just flip the knife around for lefty or righty. the 2nd gen you'd have to unscrew the belt loop and flip the kydex over and screw it back.
