i believe this is the right place for this..

well i just wanted to know from you guys if it would be worth it to go if i didnt have much money to spend there.
i had my room booked and ive bought my bladeshow 3 day ticket, but i cancelled my room because i wasnt sure if there would be a point in going if i didnt have any money to spend while im there. the room would have been at the HOJO about 2 miles away i think it was.

just looking for opinions as ive never been to blade show, i only really got into knives again jan of last year.

OR should i save and just wait and fly out to shot show? and attend blade show next year.

thanks for any suggestions guys!

and also if this needs to be moved feel free to do so.

Hey Patyouknow, Just drive down, since you are only about 4 hours driving time from Atlanta. You won't be disappointed, as just being there and seeing all the sights will be worth the trip. I live in the area, and intend to go, but like you, don't have much in the way of spending cash to buy much. I wouldn't miss it for the opportunity to see everything and maybe get to meet other Blade Forum members. You could even just make a long day of it if you don't want to stay overnight. Just my thoughts on it.

Blessings,

Omar

I agree with OHALLUM.

It might seem less worthwhile if you are short of cash, but that also means you won't be tempted to make purchases you shouldn't :D.
Plus you won't be spending your time pondering purchases and can just enjoy the show and the great people there.

It could be worth it just to get familiar with the show and layout since its your first time.
My first time a few years ago, after not attending one for a very long time, was almost overwhelming but gave me a lot of info on what to expect and how to prepare for the next year's show.

You've already paid for your 3-day pass, so I'd suggest enjoying a drive down and trying to go on Friday and Saturday. Friday tends to be more relaxed with less people, but its a shorter day and you may not have seen everything you want to. Saturday is a bit more crowded and hectic but you should have gotten a good feel for the place on Friday.

There are also a ton of free events, demos and seminars on Saturday. You could fill most of the day pretty easily.
Heres a list of what they have schedule at the moment:
SATURDAY, JUNE 1
10:00 a.m. 30-Minute Yoga Intro For Deep Relaxation & Stress Reduction—Jot Singh Khalsa, Room 104
10:00 a.m. How To Throw Knives & Tomahawks—Bobby Branton, The Courtyard
10:00 a.m. ABS Auction, Room 103
11:15 a.m. Fundamentals of Sword Handling in Historical Swordplay—John Clements, The Courtyard
11:30 a.m. Bladesmithing For Kids—Wes Byrd, Joe Keeslar and Tim Potier, Room 109
12:00 p.m. Buck Collectors Club—Room 103
12:30 p.m. European Historical Swordplay Techniques—Reinhardt Legacy Fight Team, The Courtyard

1:45 p.m. Japanese Sword Demonstration—James Williams, The Courtyard
2:00 p.m. Knives That Survived on the Frontier—Ed Fowler, Room 104
3:00 p.m. Meet Larry “The Hammer” Harley of TV’s Lords of War, Room 104
4:00 p.m. You, Your EDC and The Police—Chris Conte, NRA Institute for Legislative Action, Room 109

I personally wouldn't go unless I had some money in my pocket. I will probably be attending, but if finances are such that I can't spend a few hundred $, I am not going to bother. The Blade Show is a mind numbing experience in terms of custom knives. It is great to see everything in person and talk with the makers. But I still want to have some $ in my pocket. You can get burnt out in 4 hours or so, and a motel room to recharge the batteries and another day to attend is nice.
