Are there any schools (in the north) that offer a bladesmithing class? The ABS school in Arkansas looks pretty good but living in Ohio it would be pretty hard to make it down there for the two week intro class (and then a few more :)). Plus I would melt in the heat down south :(. Thanks for the help,

Matt

You might get warm in August, but most of the year it's real nice. At 6:53 pm this evening it was 69° there. The low for tonight is 45°. Here's the forecast for next week.

Day -High/Low
-------------
Mon. 63°/37°
Tue. 57°/39°
Wed. 66°/44°
Thu. 63°/45°
Fri. 59°/41°

You'll be wanting to take the Intro course, so here are the dates when you're sure to be "cool".

Feb 10-21 - Introduction to Bladesmithing - Kevin Cashen
Mar 03-14 - Introduction to Bladesmithing - B. Gaston and J. Crowell
Apr 07-18 - Introduction to Bladesmithing - M. Connor and H. Dean

Hey Terry, it's not so much the heat, it's the commute :p :p . My girlfriend and I drove to Florida to visit her grandparents over the summer ~1200 miles, that was rough. We ended up 300 miles out of our way on the way back, that was worse :( . I would probably end up in Canada if I tried to get to Arkansas :). Believe it or not Cincinnati is probably hotter during the summer than Arkansas.

I am not sure if it is any closer to you but Montgomery College in North Carolina runs some bladesmithing courses. I thought summer weather in Arkansas was quite nice, a bit cool in the mornings though. If you were to go to the ABS school it would be worth going another 300 miles out of your way on the way back.

Washington, Arkansas, Ridgerunner. Maybe someone can give a phone number for the school.

Thank's y'all I appreciate it! Am getting hooked on this knifemaking thing. Just bought a new Grizzly knifemaking ,grinder- buffer, have it set up now and I am in the process of running a new 15 amp circuit for it. Seems to be pretty well made and the price was right. Went to their warehouse in Springfield MO. and it was on sale for $280.00 Thank's again, Paul
