I just went ot my first hammer in this past fall and would love to go to attend the ABS Intro to bladesmithing class in Arkansas, but its 21 hours away from me here in Binghamton NY, and would use up pretty much all my vacation time for the year.
Does anybody know of any similar courses closer (or shorter)?
Thanks,
Ed

Hi,
Tommy can give you more info on some very good classes in North Carolina.

For additional information on the classes or on the custom knife show, please contact:

Yeh, Ed. There is the Touchstone school in Farmington, PA. www.touchstonecrafts.com
It's out towards Pittsburg but, they do forging classes and damascus. I'm about an hour away from you so it's not too far. I haven't gone there but, I've heard good things about it.

Neat! I am about 3 hours away from Touchstone. I'll definitely have to drop by sometime.

I am going to be teaching a knifemaking class this summer at the Worcester center for crafts in Worcester Mass. It will be one night a week for 5 weeks beginning in july. It will cover basic knifemaking, grinding, filework ect. It might be a little closer than PA.

Steve - every time I see that college name I groan...

I live in Montgomery County, Maryland, and there's a Montgomery County Community College here as well and only 10 minutes away...

Whenever I do a search for their classes online, I always get the NC college instead and am reminded of all the great classes I could be taking there instead. :grumpy:

Any other schools or courses in the VA/DC/MD/PA area?

Thanks for the links all! It sounds like I could practically live at the one in PA and take class after class:D

Are you going to include forge work with that class? And will you include field trips to my most favorite museum, the Higgins Armory?? :D :D :D
