Here are some photos from this years annual Matthew Quigley buffalo rifle match held in Forsyth, MT. This is the largest shooting event in Montana since the Custer Massacre.:D This year we had 631 registered shooters. MS Bill Burke, MS shane Taylor, Shanes son Kai my son Pete and myself shot the match as a group. Here are some pictures from the event i hope you like them.

Here is an overview of the range when you come off the hill above.

Eric that looks like a great time

Good to see all you guys having fun

Someday I would really like to show up

That's amazing, thanks for sharing it Erik. Nice photos too.

What type/size targets were they using?

Looks like a good time, what calibers were you all mostly shooting. I used to have an old shiloh 50-140 you talk about a cannon.
The guy i sold it to now has taken buffalo and elk with it.

Looks to be very well attended and sounds like a lot of fun. Gotta love all the shade trees you have there lol.

the requirements for caliber are any single shot or leveraction .375 or larger. cast bullets only gas checks are okay and unfortunately they do allow smokeless powder. But we only had one bed wetter in our group shooting smokeless powder but we won't mention Shane's name on a public forum.:D As far as medals Bruce no luck it is a 48 shot match and 10th place was a 41 and first place was a 43. I think Bill would have had a chance but this was his first time shooting the Quigley and he had a serious case of spotter error.

Kevin, the targets are metal targets in varying shapes and sizes from a Bucket shaped target for the offhand to a lifesize buffalo at the 805 yard line. all the targets are rigged with radios so you can hear the hits. They give out "8 straight" pins if you clean a target with no misses. Bill was the only one in our group to get one of the pins. The fun thing about the match is once the match starts there are no "sighter" shots allowed. Everytime you pull the trigger it is for score.
