A few of you may remember my post asking for advice on Bladetech's S30V models.

I got the MLEK in a trade recently and have been using it for a few days. I have to say, I am really liking this knife.

Blade-

I'm a steel snob, so this wonderful use of S30V fits me well.
The grind is even and well done, and I like the small upswept "belly" on this blade, it just cuts and cuts. The tip is pointy but strong, with a subtle up sweep that is very utilitarian.

The opening hole is Spyderco-esq and works very well.

The spine of the blade, while somewhat odd looking, fits the hand well in many different grip positions. The jimping is done right and in the right spots.

Blade length is about perfect for me at 3.6"

Handle-

Odd looking but very comfortable. Works great choked up on the blade or in a traditional strong hold grip. Again, reminds me of Spyderco in function over form.

The G10 is the perfect texture. Not too grippy to tear up pant pockets, but solid in the hand.

Clip-

I like the clip position in a tip up carry. I like having a bit of the handle protruding to aid in drawing and replacing the knife. Low rider clips are a fad in my mind, and make actually using knives difficult in my opinion. I like Delica and Endura 3's better than the new models much for this reason.

The clip is again Spyderco-esq in style, but it is strong and plenty large. The only drawback is the BRIGHT polished steel. I'd prefer it to be black, but I'll live.

Weight-

Solid but carries easily. Perfect balance for me.

I avoided Bladetech for a while because of how "Spyderco-esq" it seemed. I held some reservations about them ripping off Sal's ideas. While that is still true to a point, this is a solidly made knife and very quickly becoming a favorite of mine.
