so ive been looking at this knife and while im sure that its an acquired taste i think its pretty cool, just wondered if anyone whose used/held it had anything to say about it

things im curious about
1. the grip says aluminum with rubber layering, what grade aluminum, and how are the ergos
2. hows the pocket retention
3. hows bladetechs HT on Aus8

Have a little patience :)

It's another Saturday night and I ain't got no money ... but everyone else is out partying.
And that's a knife there has not been much discussion about.

very true, i guess im just getting stir crazy, my roommate took all my dive gear so todays entertainment went bye bye

well lets try this again, so im interested in this knife and while it is quite an acquired taste, i think that itll be interesting to try out. anyone with experience with this knife or another bladetech that uses Aus 8?

I have a U.L.U. I bought up in Alaska and think it really is a cool design. The overall knife is good quality and very functional but rather large for my taste so it doesn't get too much pocket time. The rubber handles are smooth but still have a very good grip and feels good in the hand. I haven't had that much experience with Blade-Tech version of AUS-8 but have used Spyderco's version and love it. It really is a nice overall good steel, easy to sharpen, good edge retention and forgiveness.

The blade locks open with a liner lock. If you pull the liner lock to the side the blade drops down slightly and can be slid back into the handle and locks into place to take on the Ulu shape. It can then be unlocked with the button on toward the back of the handle.

Blade-Tech is going to make a smaller version of the ULU called the ULU Junior that I will be picking up when it comes out. Overall it really is very cool design and I would recommend playing around with one and seeing for yourself, like you mentioned it is an acquired taste

I have one, but I only really use it for cooking when I go camping and it works prettu well for cutting up food. The aus 8 comes and gets sharp but I dont have enough experience to comment on the edge holding.
