While I'm in Vegas for SHOT, I'd like to see if I can visit Blanchard's. Can anyone give me directions on how to get there from the Sands Hotel and Expo Center? And if yo know the hours they are open, I would like that too. I'm rolling into town Sunday afternoon and will have time to mess around in the afternoon. Thanks in advance!

Hi Dexter,
When I was in Vegas last year for a medical conference I just took a cab from the strip. It cost about $10. I think their hours are 10-6. It's a nice store and Mrs Blanchard runs the showplace. Very nice lady. Mr. Blanchard can be seen through some glass windows working on knives in his shop. His assortment is fairly good. Mostly productions but a few customs. Lots of kitchen knives, sharpeners swords. Prices are very high, though. I bought a bunch of old Blade magazines they had.

Have a good trip.

From the Sands Center head east on Sands Ave. for about two miles till you get to Maryland Pky, turn left and start looking for 3507 South Maryland Pky on the left side of the road. It is in one of the storefront malls, three or four blocks after you turn left.

You will like his store, he is very good to talk to.

Darrel and Bo - thanks for the information. I've read about Blanchard and his store and figured this will be a perfect opportunity to visit them. Looking forward to it!

Dexter, I was at Vegas around Thanksgiving and looked for Blanchard's at their old address on Las Vegas Blvd and found (as mentioned by Bo) that they moved (3507 S. Maryland Pkwy, #E 702-733-8333).

Give them a call. It looked like a big store, but was closed

when I got there cuz they shut down for the holiday. Sorry, was too pissed to note the hours.

Store is in a tiny stripmall with not much parking, but across the street from a big shopping center (Boulevard Mall). Equally tiny storefront is easy to miss from the street and the numbers are hard to catch sometimes. Mapquest (on the web) shows the store on Maryland Pkwy between Sierra Vista Dr (on the north) and Dumont Blvd (on the south).

Hope you have better luck than I.

Thanks Longden. I hope they are open on Sunday, since that's the only free time I have until the show opens. I'll call them and see. Thanks again.
