Blasphemy - Busse Bowie

I know that this might sound like blasphemy, but I think it would be cool if Busse made a "classic" but "not too classic" Bowie. I know that Busse is a combat knife company and most of its knives follow a more modern combat design, but what the hell, Kukris are not very modern either. My idea is a simple one - just make a big-ass blade with a typical Busse handle and built-in guard (with the Busse hole in it) and add on a nice old-fashioned clip point. Call it the Big Bacon Bowie. Or maybe Busse a la mode (as in Alamo). I know the hogs will think up a good name. I myself would like to see a recurve bolo type with a hook clip. Americans being so patriotic, this model would probably become the all-time sales champion. I probably couldn't afford it myself, but heck, dreams don't cost anything. I myself would like it to have an upper guard with the same Busse hole in it. Then you'd have an upper and lower guard. It could either be 8, 9 or 10 inches in blade length. My vote would be for a fusion handle.

There is the Bluegrass Bowie, one of Jerry's GFDs. I love that thing.

What I'm talking about is: 1) A regular product on sale on the site, not some extremely rare prototype that , if you were able to find , would cost you about $2,000. I'm talking about a regular product launch which would go for around $400 to $500. 2) A good old "Hook Clip" like a traditional Confederate type bowie. But yes, that Bowie Mistress proto posted by Lil Foo would be a nice start.

Just had a look at the Blue Grass Bowie on the Bad MOJO site - NOW THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKIN' ABOUT. Here's a link because I can't post pictures: http://homepage.mac.com/zombiekiller/badmojo/variants2.html
Here's what Jerry said about this blade:

V72 - Blue Grass Bowie

I don't know how to describe this fighter other than to say that it is one of my "Grinder Front Designs". That means that there were no sketches and no drawings. . . It was simply born on the front of my grinder. That's how I made all of my knives "back in the day". . . very few were repeated patterns. It is the best part about making knives by hand. It is the reason that "Real Knifemakers" never quit,. . . ever. It is the fun part of knifemaking, the time when a maker gets to "play" with no rules. . . no parameters . . .no restrictions. Perhaps I should call them "Grinder Fun Designs". It is the reason that I continue to make the Variants. I just sit down and hang on. I never quite know what's going to come out at the end. ItÕs a blast!

I like this knife. I like this knife a lot. The grip is like grabbing on to my old 1968 Schwinn bicycle with its banana seat and high swung handles. We were jumping ramps with non-shock-absorbing Schwinns long before "trail bikes" had been invented. The only thing that could keep you alive on these jumps was the "death grip" that you put on your handles. This knife handle brings back that same adrenaline pumping exhilaration. This fighter wants to fly, and you know immediately upon picking it up that you'd better hold on tight because youÕre in for the ride of your life. It is "fun". It is a very "fun" knife to handle. It is also SOLD and I will NOT be making anymore exactly like it.

That's gotta be kinda a "fun" for the new owner too, doesn't it?

Yours in Nuclear GFDs,

Jerry

This would be an interesting knife you have described.

Sheez that man makes some insanely beautiful knves... How can I not have known about Busse for so long? :grumpy:

what lycosa said.....

congrats jaxx, now that is a bowie, love that swedge and the scales are super coooooool

Nah I dont think Jerry will make a Double Gaurded bowie fighter with a 7 inch plus blade.....Can he do it? Well I want to see him prove he can:eek:;)

That Blue Grass Bowie is sweet! (As are most of Eric's knives. I swear he must have the raddest collection of Custom Fighters in all of Busse Hogdom!) The only things the Blue Grass Bowie needs is to have the finger grooves removed and be put into production. I have only seen the ergo variant handles on Custom Fighters though.
