Blasphemy???

Hi all,
I'm considering a Bark River Loveless DPH...I love the Loveless DPH style and the size is perfect for my hiking and snow shoeing EDC needs...well not so much "needs" as "likes".

Now the blasphemy part...the BR is a convex edge and I'm a Lansky system sort of person. I always reprofile every knife I buy to my preferred angle. Would it be blasphemous to reprofile the knife???
I do not have the stones...hehehe...to maintain a convex edge nor will I buy them, again, I prefer the Lansky system.

Your thoughts and comments are needed and appreciated.
Thanks,
Kai

Do what you need to maintain your knife. It's more blasphemy if you decided not to maintain your knife, or use one of those pull through sharpeners.

Its your knife. Change it to suit your needs, you'll be happier with it.

Not blasphemy in my book.

It would be blasphemous to change it without using it as is first. I believe if you do, you'll find your way around to keeping it as a convex. You can easily maintain a convex on stones as inexpensive as the Norton econo stone or even a slurry of polishing compound and mineral oil on a piece of oak, no need for any heroic measures or specialized gear.

I'm a firm believer that when you pay for a knife and receive it, it is yours. Nobody else in the world has a claim on it, do whatever you want. I general convert convex edges to v grinds over time since that's what I'm most comfortable sharpening, but to each his own.

While it is your knife and you can do as you wish, you can just put a microbevel on it with your Lansky, minimally disturbing the overall geometry of the knife. as a small but useful addition to your kit consider a strop and something like 4 micron compound - CBN for instance or the black Bark River compound bar on it to maintain your edge. Useful for your flat grinds too.

You can do whatever you want to your knife!

I often convex my kitchen knives and some people wonder why I do. I just know what I want.
