Hey Guys, I just thought these were cool as heck and I wanted to share. Most of you know Celia VanWyck from African Supply. She's got these warthog tusk tips that are carved with animal heads that make great neck knife handles. Their clean, good tips and only $5.00 a piece. I thought it was a bargin. I'm hoping she has more this weekend at Stamford. Like I said, I thought they were cool and I thought I'd share.

I see you've been in the Nickle silver again J. Those are neat and a good find. I have never had a good source for wart hog ivory. It doesn't yellow and is perfect for gun sights, etc that need to stay bright.

How can I get in touch with her?

Here's her number Peter- 203-956-9289. All the warthog ivory I use is from her. Their stuff is always clean and solid. That's also where I get all my horn, bone, pink & black ivory wood from, too.

Cute little knife, J. Do the tusk purveyors have a website, or a catalog I could phone for?

Very neat steel. Mind my inquiring just what it is? Thx...

The phone number is up above Fitzo. They had just started a new web site but, something went to hell on it. I'm not sure if there is a catalog or not but, if you give her a call, I'm sure she'll have something. Real nice lady.

The blade is frontier damascus. Damascus scrap, this one was mostly nickle damascus welded in a can with 1084 powder. The throat is stabilized maple burl and malachite and our standard open-frame magnetic neck sheath.

Thanks, J.! I'll call her tomorrow. I need some kind of non-elephant ivory material.

J., Really nice, and especially the steel! I have never seen that pattern, and I LIKE it!!! What do you call that pattern? Thank you very much for sharing, and the information. Hey, you take really good pics, too. Edited to add, OOPS, I missed the above posting of you describing your steel.

J and Tess, that's sweet! Thanks for the info J, I'm going to have to call her too. But dang! I have more handle material than I can make knives for. What is it about knifemakers they're always buying handle material... ;)
