When the mood strikes, but you don't have the proper tool, you do what you can with what you got. I am so impressed by this knife.

That's why it always pays to carry items that are well designed and built with quality in mind. Benchmade's Griptilian, in my humble opinion, provides the best balance of quality, design, function and value available in factory made knives of today.

Unfortunately, I didn't film two of us batoning this knife cross grain through a 3 1/2" diameter root, (but you can see what was left of it in the video).

The grip is a great choice for a budget knife. Useable blade shape, good steel, and a secure lock combine for a overall nice package. I use mine still even though I have knives that cost several times more.

nice, I've come within moments of ordering both a grip and mini grip several times. never done it, but definitely respect that classic blade.

good to see someone who knows how to give a knife a healthy work out.

Wouldn't expect someone to baton with a griptilian. Wish you guys recorded that it would have been cool to see. :) I hear nothing but praise and was considering ordering one about four hours before I looked at this post!

The min blade and the full size are good too. Made in America, with a good warranty. It seems the prices have went up about 20% on these in the last 3 years, but I guess that is how things are these days.

I like the mini more for EDC.

And if you happen to break the blade benchmade's awesome customer service can replace it for a reasonable price.

Just picked up a 551 myself, I would have gotten orange had I the choice, jealous of yours. Nice work with your blade!

the mini ritter is one of my favorite folders. when I know I have a heavy use day ahead of me, I usually put it in my pocket.

I have Griptilians dancing in my head lately. Might have to pull the trigger on another one after all these years.

this little guy is the rust proof unit; stainless fasteners and whatnot. It lives in my MTB pack alla time and sees super harsh treatment and gets stored wet for days on end. Still rockin.

by the way, we didn't baton it right through that 3 1/2" root, we took out chunks of it like you would with an axe. Not very exciting, just didn't want you to get the impression this thing has mystical powers :)
