Here is an 18.5 inch AK made by Sanu. Knife is 1/2 inch thick and weighs two pounds ten ounces. Beefy enough but not as beefy as Sher makes them.

This is an early effort and the blade does not carry his mark but I can recognize the work. It is another 10 out of 10 rig with a cracked handle. The handle has a crack that runs almost full length but the handle is still very strong and solid and has no intention of going anywhere. This one will take 20 cents worth of epoxy and 20 minutes to fix. Then this knife will be ready for 50 or 100 years of hard work.

Take the knife for $95 -- $50 off regular price and we will pay shipping.

Call or email if interested.

Khukuri FAQ

The last one you posted with hatchmarks looked good. Which surprised me compared with the flat our exellence I've come to expect from his forward curving. The tic-tac-toe, the surya, chandra, tara seemed very, very close to the Bura Ganga Ram quality and Banspati cosmetically. Actually, one from Sanu that isnt cosmetically perfect would be my preference. I wouldn't feel guilty using it.

Must graciously decline.

Just wanted to point out that Sanu is so good that the last forward curving from him you posted a picture on was ONLY good ( far as the hatchmarks go ), and at his best, well, I've looked at Bura's Banspati, and at Bura's Ganga Ram, and sent them both back. I've never sent back a Sanu khuk.

That I have turned down two of the Royal Kami's excellent blades, but you couldn't pry one of Sanu's out of my hands *should* tell you a lot. Sanu's technical mastery, that I couldn't tell you about. The feel, the spirit, the rightness of them is so very overwhelming that you just breathe it in and ignore the superficialities.

I've gotta say that this blem looks great! Just what I've been looking for. Unfortunately, I wasn't on line when Bill posted it. Somebody got a good deal on this.

Hey, Bill, next time you think nobody is responding quickly enough to an 18" AK (that is a relatively "normal" weight one) remember me!
