When I first started getting into good knives, I went directly for Blind Horse knives. I had met LT at the now moved Mason Dixon Knife Show in Frederick MD. I was amazed by his knives, but only bought a couple knife cases from him. I later saw him at a the now defunct Chesapeake Knife Show and bought a few Blind Horse knives from him. One of his dealers traded a few Workhorses and patch knives to me. Over the years, I bought and traded with collectors, Blind Horse themselves, and at shows/shops. I even got one of LT's own custom knives, long before his production shop. At one time, I had most of their regular line models and a few of their custom models. When I bought my iPod, I always had a new episode of BHK Outdoors on my podcast app. Never met Dan or his daughter or any of their shop, but if it had the BHK logo on it, I knew it was high quality. Scaatycrafter, original bushcrafter, Nessmuks, all manner of knives, I can't remember them all!

As many well know, the trading bug passed along it's disease to me, and unfortunately, most of my BHKs slipped through my fingers for knives I haven't had in my possession in a long time. I still have my BHK hat, but that's it. A FB friend was very nice to send me a LT Wright Patriot, that I gave to my pop to give to the doctor that saved my little brothers life when he was a baby and flatlined several times. The doctor is an upland game hunter.

One of the models that has intrigued me for years was the BHK boat tail scandi. At Scott Gossman's camping Gosstoberfest, TonyM had a boat tail scandi he was using that weekend that I tried to trade from him. I later traded some really good knives over the years from him, but that boat tail stuck with me over the years. I have a love hate relationship with scandis. They're very useful, but I just can't "get with" them. I've had the elusive Skookum, I specifically asked Dozier to make a flat ground bushcrafter for me instead of scandi, I had a Charles May scandi (I think it was a May), lots of nice Helles and a few puukkos. Unless it's a Mora, I can't justify having a scandi knife anymore.

I've had about three boat tail scandis, all traded or sold. I saw a write up about the boat tail in an old issue of TK or Blade, I don't remember, might've been Knife World. I asked about them on a FB group devoted to Blind Horse/Battle Horse/LT Wright, and found out that some flat ground boat tails were made. I was also given a link to an online retailer that had some. I was too late. I had custom slipjoint orders, and wasn't able to buy. When I could buy, they were sold out. I posted WTB orders, contacted Battle Horse and LT himself, no luck.

I had a wild hair and put up a trade post on that same FB group. I later saw an old FS post that had a flat ground boat tail for sale. Offered up a knife for trade, and today I have that boat tail in my truck after picking it up on the way to work.

I'm looking to get some traditional Blind Horse, Battle Horse and LT shop knives. The bushcrafters from Battle Horse and the flat ground Genesis from LT look awesome, and highly useful. Blind Horse always made good looking, but useful, knives.

Grab your favorite cup of coffee, tea, or chaga ;) and share your pics of traditional Blind Horse, Battle Horse and LT Wright (shop and his own customs) knives.
