I was thinking that this forum has been like one of those little "blind spot" mirrors you stick on the outsde mirror of the car, all of a sudden you see something that's just over your shoulder that you've been missing! I've generally been grabbing the Steve Seagal knife for quite a while but just thought of it as a "knife" and not a Kershaw. The other day I was looking at it and realized just how much I like it and how often I carry it. Came into the forum and read here for a few hours (I feel like I know a bunch of you guys) and then decided to check out some of the Kershaw knives you all seemed so taken with. Found there's a whole world of interesting knives I was missing!

Absolutely liked the Bumps, especially the black aluminum Speed Bump, which I ordered thanks to SPX Trader's input, and then got the mini-mojo (again with SPX's feedback) for a retired detective I know who just got some sort of arthritis in both thumbs. Found out about the stud lock...what a terrific idea...one of those that was sort of right in front of you all the time (or in the blind spot).

My wife then reminded me that the first knife (of many) I bought her was a Kershaw Rainbow Chive...so she got it out and I see it's dated June of '03. I never noticed that (blind spot).

Finally, I decide to just noodle around on the Kershaw site and find out that they made a Leek with a picture of Canon Beach (Haystack rock) on it! I mean, that remains one of my favorite places anywhere...despite the growth and how expensive it has gotten since I first 'discovered' it back in the mid 1970's. Now that was amazing to me seeing as how we have two pictures of the place hanging in our home...so I ordered one of those, figuring I could overlook the funky "Jeep" thing in the corner.

A Great weekend. I was getting sort of "blah" about knives and this forum and Kershaw absolutely reinvigorated me. I owe you all a thank you. Great bunch of guys...more than a little nutz!!:D

Cheers,
Gargs

Welcome and feel free to read all you want. We would be happy to have you posting as well. We can always use a new "regular" around here.

Sounds like you have picked up some nice knives.... enjoy 'em and be prepared to get bitten by the Kershaw bug.

Glad you had a good time Gargs, and recalled some good times of the past. Stick around, you'll see we're really like a big family! Well, perhaps a big dysfunctional family at times, but family just the same.

And your mirror analogy is perfect...they are closer than they appear. Once you have a box full of them, you'll say "How the heck did I wind up with so many Kershaws, and why haven't I had them sooner?"

Thanks again for your kind words, and don't be a stranger!

SPX

Glad you checked your blind spot. And yes there are plenty of great knives
coming out of Kershaw. (They're killing my wallet)
Oh, I guess you could say we're a little nutz. Just a little. ;)

Welcome to the Kershaw sub-forum.

Sometimes I look around and say: " This is my family?"

This is a great forum, made up of great members with EXCELLENT taste in knives! Its a bit of a sausage-fest though, so if you know any hot chicks who love knives, get em to sign up! :D

And I love my Seagal folder too! It opens very quickly and smoothly, and the Aus8 steel holds and edge well! I use mine when doing yardwork (cutting string, mulch and topsoil bags, etc...). Very underrated knife IMO

Gargs...welcome...really enjoyed your story!

It's good to know this mirror is serving its function...just be aware of seeing your way with ever-increasing clarity towards more and more Kershaws...:D

Fortunately, thats's a good thing! ;)

Ray :)

Welcome Gargs, enjoy all these great guys and mostly enjoy all the Kershaws you can lay your paws on !!!

Hey! I was gonna reply... (had BBQ on me fingers).

Welcome to the oddest little subforum of BF, Gargs!

As that expression goes, you put the "fun" in dysfunctional. I'll be glad to accept your invite to visit and post and I'll try my best to keep up. Thanks for responding and being willing to have me here.

Is that Haystack rock?? Looked a little short to me. If it is, I want it... same sentiment

Yep...at least it says "Haystack rock" in the press release on the Kershaw site. You may wait on it a while since I should be getting the knife in a week or so and I'll let you know whether it really looks like Haystack or more like a stone in a puddle. Hard to tell from the pictures, but there didn't seem to be a shortage of that model so no sense both of us putting out the bucks. Yet!! :)

Nice story... and not trying to be a smart ass (because you got me excited too), but I grew up here my whole life, and spent many summers at Cannon beach because my mom lived there during her childhood. Anyway, maybe we can call it an artist's rendition or something. Anyway, the Rock is right on the shore. At low tide you can walk right on it. It looks virtually the same from any angle on shore. Still, it's a nice beach scene. Maybe it's somewhere on the Oregon coast.

...Gargs I needed to find this place like a hole in the head...All it's caused me to do is find new ways to empty the bank account...LMAO...There are great knives to be found at Kershaw and terrific guys to be found in this sub-forum. I'm glad I have that "hole in the head" and glad I found this forum and these guys...:thumbup:
