is this normal?

i've been opening it to loosen up the opening a little, but i noticed it rattles if i shake it from side to side. it seems to be on the up and up but i didn't expect it to rattle like this.

any advice on how to open it up easier other than a little oil, keep practicing, and push up on the thumbstud more than out? how do you hold your other fingers?

when i get this little fella dull will the sharpmaker get it back to razor sharp with ease?

Not sure about the rattle ?

Middle finger needs to fit "into" slot on clip while opening.......this provides a way to hold the knife securely.

Always make sure the end of the knife where pivot is and blade comes out is "completely" clear of any part of your finger, while using the "end" of your thumb (try not to touch frame) to push thumb stud out "just a little".

It should jump out easily if you do all these things together.

Yes, the steel is AUS-8 and easy to bring back.

This should make it easier.

Robbie Roberson. ;)

if i hold the knife with my finger on the clip and thumb on the opposite side of the knife and wiggle it back and forth it rattles.
it reminds me of the way my Glocks sound when I shake them to make sure the firing pin/etc. is clean and dry.

Mine does that too, but no malfunctions. I think its part of the safety, although that would not effect the performance of the lock itself.

so at least somebody else's rattles, too. i like this little knife a lot. i can't quit playing with it. my wife even likes it.

on a side note, how do you pronounce SOG?

Occasionally the Blink does have a slight rattle to it if you shake the knife. It is the safety lock shaking in the handle. As long as it moves smoothly there should be no issues. If the safety ever sticks or does not move easily please send it back to be inspected or repaired.

Pronounce SOG like FOG but with an S
