Hi there. First post: A few years ago I bought a Buck 110 on EBay. I had had a 110 years ago as a kid and lost it. When I received the knife, I was reluctant to open the blister pack because it was sold as new Old stock, so I put it in a drawer and pretty much forgot about it. I got it out the other day because I just bought a new Buck Prince 503, and I noticed on the back of the 110’s package there are references to buck.com, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.,so I don’t feel like the knife is that old, obviously.
Here’s my question: is this knife worth keeping In its original (unused) packaging and just buy another one for use (fun really) or should I just rip it open? I’m tempted to do the latter, but I’m also tempted just to buy another one and preserve this one to retain it’s value. I’m just not certain if that value is really a thing or not. I would love your opinions and thank you for including me in the form.

Haha! Thanks for the advice. Those are pretty much my thoughts too. I just didn’t want to be the jackass who destroyed a piece of history that might mean something to somebody someday. I’m excited to actually use the knife. As mentioned, I had forgotten about it. Thanks again, sir.

is the carding in the package yellow with the Buck logo ?
It sounds like a fairly recent knife.

If the knife is in the package with the blade open, you should be able to make out the date code symbol to know exactly how old it is.
Either way, I'd just open it and use the knife as it was meant to be.

I agree on all counts. Yes it’s yellow. And with Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram on the back I’m sure it’s no more than 5 to 10 years old. I’m going to open it. Honestly, I was just trying to preserve the knife for collectors if that was a thing. Not that I’m trying to make it more valuable to me. Just being respectful to the hobby. Thanks for the input. I’m going to crack it open tomorrow. And no, the blade is not opened in the package.

Good idea.
I'll bet the knife was probably bought at Walmart.
