BLK-Ti or Satin blade?

Many great knives come with a black blade. BM 710, Emerson Commander, SERE 2K, and many others. I even saw Spyderco Military in black - some older model.

My question is - how practical it is to have EDC with a black blade?

I've always preferred satin blades for all purposes. In my understanding you only need blackened blade in two cases - for military duty (eliminate reflection) and in case the blade is made out of something that rusts easily.

I've recently got a SERE 2K with a black blade. I did not like it at first, but now it seems rather cool. Now whether you have satin blade or black blade, it will still become very scratched up in every day use. So what the hell, why not have the black blade?

What do you think, what are the pros and cons of having a black bladed EDC? Is this that much worse then stainless steel finish blade?

I like the contrast between a shiny satin finish and black or dark green scales on the knife. Opinion basically, contrast IMO looks nicer than the all black blade and black g-10. Black blades look cooler on green g-10 knives, as well. The finishes from certain companys do come off too easily, BT2 comes to mind. Some ti-nitride or other "matte" black finishes also offer other looks. In all I guess I choose a satin blade for EDC, but if I do have the time or if I am going offshore, I try to bring a coated blade knife. That way the edge is the only thing that rusts and is easily sharpened off.
