Seen a couple folks make these up now, here's mine. 2" by 8" by 16", angle ramp/butcher shoulder, heavy radius then 2 decreasing size radii then a flat. It's just mild steel, I peened the flat face and it seemed to get noticeably yet slightly better rebound. gonna make a 3 leg stand that can set screw hold the anvil upright, on it's side for a long flat surface, or on it's long side for a big wide long flat surface. I will add some more shapes, some little cup/dents for dishing, also will add an L shape hardy hole, and other shapes as needed.

it's around 72 pounds, which is easily moveable, flippable. I think of it not really as an anvil, but as a swage block that can be forged on. More shapes and additions to come.

That's a really nice start Sam. I've been looking at as many examples of Brian's style of striking anvil as I can find as I'm going to make one too.

I'll be watching to see what you come up with. I have 8 pieces of forklift tine that are 3"x7-1/2"x16" and was considering a couple striking anvils. I might just have em water jet into a swage block/striking anvil now....

Brian's striking anvil style and all the variations I've seen are really cool. :D

Nice apron lol,

Great looking project, should really provide some inspiration for guys to make there own anvil.

What do you plan on mounting it in or do you.

Brian thanks!!! That's good stock you want to part with one of those? I will make you a deal one in trade for making you a striking anvil from another?

LOL thanks quint. I wish these kind of photos and this type of anvil was around when I got started I would have totally gotten one first.
