Ok, I am behind the times as usual. I have been hearing about internet blogs, and not sure what they are, what the choices are and just what the scoop is in general. Sounds kind of like a forum in a way. Anyway, who here blogs? And where? And why?

blogger.com is a great site to get a free blog site.
I do it near every day. it can be an online journal of activities/thoughts/etc or many use it to provide links with limited commentary to other sites of interest. Most blogs also have capacity for comments from readers, and this can be a way to interact. I write poetry and magical realism fiction and use my blog, at times, to score chicks. ;)

There are plenty of political blogs out there if you're interested. I'm not a big fan of blogs in general, but I do enjoy link bloggers like Weird Links, The Presurfer, and J-Walk. Although there's a lot of overlap, these can keep you occupied for quite a while with the amusing sites they dig up.

The definition of "blog" has quickly become defocused. It now refers to everything from an online newspaper column by a professional journalist to what are essentially online diaries and journals. My website, www.balisongcollector.com, has been called a blog; I reject that definition. But anyway, just about any website that one person updates even somewhat regularly giving any mix of information, opinions, and/or ideas can be called a blog.

Raghorn-Yes.

Some folks incorporate blogs into their websites. Leo (Screensavers-TechTV) has one in addition to a full-scale forum.
So do a variety of writers. William Gibson runs one when he's "in-between" novels, for instance.

I started a blog just about a year ago. I'm afraid mine makes for very boring reading as I use it for making plans and thinking out loud...or in print I should say. Since the entries are archived, I can refer back to an entry if need be. I have "surfed" some of other peoples blogs and that can keep you entertained for quite some time ;)

All this is quite intriquing to me for some reason.

Danelle:
Yes, I remember when you started yours and have peeked in on it a time or two and have enjoyed it.

Raghorn:
Yes, excactly. Blog came from Web log. I did know that, its all the variables that Gollnick talked about that was confusing me.

So, here I set after checking out the blogger.com website, (thanks Runswithknives,) and am about to sign up. Not sure why I want to, but I think I do.
