My wife bought this for me for Christmas and I thought it was about time to clean it up for pictures. Out of the box it was pretty sharp but had a wire edge that stropping wouldn't remove. I like overly sharp knives anyhow so I took care of that right away. The thread about oiling got me to thinking I should probably oil it, so I did that and cleaned it up and put on a coat of Renaissance wax. Well at some point during the process, and I'm still getting used to half stops with strong springs, it snapped closed on my thumb. I don't know how I did it or just what happened but 3 stitches later all is fine. The Dr. commented on what a clean cut it was :D.

Excellent job sharpening it, it looks super clean. Half stops have surprised many a person, especially when one is accustomed to cam tangs, sorry to hear about your misfortune

Hope you heal up quick. I like overly sharp knives, too. When I get a new knife, I carry it a few days before really touching up the edge. I cut myself less if I kind of get a feel for it first.

Nice looking knife, by the way

You have good taste there Bob! I really like Queens Amber Carved Stag Bone and the pattern #40 is 1 of my favorites! D-2 steel to boot!
Sorry about the stitches but I suppose it goes with the territory.

It the best QC to check your sharpening job :D Hope you'll get better soon. Hope my wife will gift me such a knife. It's a beauty.

Bob, that is a beautiful knife!!! I had a similar experience when I took up whittling. Received a nasty deep cut, made a b-line from my garage to the kitchen sink then out to my van...left a blood trail the whole way

My wife came home while I was @ the ER and she was worried to say the least and a little upset with me :o. I told her that the Doc said it was a very clean cut...I was so proud :D.

Yikes! Glad it wasn't too bad. At least it didn't happen with a POS, LOL!

Thanks for the well wishes everyone. In the past, my much younger years, I would have just bandaged it up and gone about my business. Now days I take blood thinners and sometimes have a real hard time getting the flow stopped.
My wife took me and threatened to take my toys away if I do it again :o.
