I was wondering if anyone had seen Blood Diamond and knew what kind of knife DiCaprio uses. I'll try to find some screen captures to help with the ident.

I'm wondering the same thing. DiCaprio uses the folder on several occasions.
I watched it yesterday in the movies, but I couldn't identify the knife though it is very well visible.

I could be wrong (which is usually the case) but it looked like one of Cold Steel's lockbacks?

Movie just came out on DVD. Looks like a tanto point have serrated, but the handle looks like its too wide to be cold steel. Mayber gerber?

Just watched the movie again with slo-mo. It's is not a BM, it is not an Emerson, and it is not a CS. I honestly don't know what it is. The part where he picks out his tooth, it looks emerson like, but the blade pivot part is strangely round, like a Boker Magnum. Then if you watch the scene with the baboon, you can clearly see that the end of the knife is pointy, this rules out the CS, the Emerson, and BM which are all round or square at the end. I'm at a loss, I think it is a no name tanto of some sort.

It looks like he uses 2 different knives... The baboon scene looks like a benchmade pika.

I don't know, they both look the same to me(tooth and baboon scene) but from that capture the handle does almost look CRKTish....The thumb studs on the blade are wrong for that though. I think it's a China 7-11 counter knife. Looks like a mut....little of this, little of that.

I saw a picture of a Dalton knife today that looked identical to the movie knife short of one big detail....no thumb studs. In the tooth scene where it looks like a logo was worn off on the blade, the Dalton had it's emblem right there, which I thought was a little weird and too far forward for a logo placement. Daltons seem to all be copies of other knives and made auto so maybe there is still a maker out there that is responsible for the Blood Diamond. Otherwise I still think it's a gas station counter mut knife.

in that screenshot pic, the serrations on that knife are different from the serrations that emerson and cold steel use.

The swedge on the spine of the blade looks like a BM 910 but IIRC the Stryker had a thumb disc instead of a stud.

Exactly what I thought at first. The serrations look like old BM ones too but those darn thumb studs. That's why me thinks it's a mutt. Someone prove me wrong please, would love to know what the heck that thing is. ;)

To me, DiCaprio was wearing BM 910 for sure.

But.....HOW CAN YOU FOCUS ON DiCap's knife in Blood Diamond when,

***the Machetes*** wear around Captian Poison's weist. THAT, my man, looks fantastically vicious in the movie. Although it might only cost 12 dollars or so, but certainly I must give the Machetes my most reconition in BD!!

Now, what brand of machetes was in Blood Diamond

A lot of knives in movies are replicas, or custom made fakes.... Hollywood have to follow safety procedures too...

(PS - Thats a lot of knives, not ALL knives ;))
