I mentioned elsewhere about a blood patina and was it possible. This pic is about as good as its gonna get. the blood sat on the blade overnight because i ran off to mend my finger. I tried cleaning it with 95% ethanol, and it didn't look like it was even minutely affected.

I don't see a photo ????

Dear god, that was a brain strain. I couldn't for the life of me remember the password for my imageshack account.

Success finally, sorry to anybody that didn't see the pic the first time.

Thats also my brand new randall, never been used.

Blood will definitely leave stains. I've used a Kumar Karda in the kitchen for steaks and it doesn't take long before the blade starts to look Old Timey. But I don't know if anything is a substitute for time. I have a Russell butcher knife that my great grandfather used in a meat packing plant back in the 40s. I've never seen another blade like it. It has a speckled appearance. For me patina's a good thing. Been hanging out in the Traditional section too long, I guess.

Congrats on the Randall, by the way. How long did you have to wait?

She's my second, I waited 2 years plus a few months. Well worth it IMO. Shes my second model 14. I still use the other, I thought she was lonely. I would NEVER part with my randall's I don't understand how someone could sell something they really love.

Hmm. Tried warm soap water? Acetone? Or something less polar, e.g. salad oil?

It looks kind of neat, actually.

remove it? I was actually considering expanding it, if i could find out its durable enough to make it worth it. :D if you know what i mean.

regarding the cleaning methods: I just wasn't sure i wanted to wear and tear on this blade just yet, for some strange reason i thought i would hold it for another 10 years and start letting my son carry it outdoors, but then again I didn't plan on staining her either. It isn't the model 14 i use to chop wood or other stuff.
