This year Bark River reintroduced the PSK (Personal Survival Kit) knife in its typical variety of handle materials (they were originally all Blaze Orange). This one is absolutely stunning.

It is smooth bone. I love the variations in color. I think this might be my favorite handle/pin material! In any event, I am in love!! :D

Wow! I glanced over that knife more times than I can count. I just seemed so small and.....well, not my style. I'm going to have to rethink this knife!

I passed it over as well, but once I handled one in a natural material, I realized it is the perfect pocket fixed blade. I don't care for it in the micarta or G-10's (Just personal preference).

Everyone says about it--and they are right--it handles like a much larger knife.

I have been considering the PSK for some time now, one problem keeps popping up...the Micro Canadian. I just can't seem to choose.

i edc my psk,,,love it,,,small very , sharp...can use it as a neck knife,,or just put it in my pocket ,,light weight

I am guessing that there might be some scratches that would come up eventually from dirt and stuff getting in the kydex. Always a concern with Kydex.

I am a leather fan!

Been wondering about splurging on a nice knife. BRKT is one of the top makers I'm considering...but this isn't on their website right now. Just what are the dimensions on this little guy? Does it come with the kydex or the leather?

Soil:

See here. 5.25" OAL, 2.25" blade, kydex sheath.

I'm a sucker for peer pressure, so just ordered one in black micarta, along with a leather pocket holster.

Edit:here is a PSK review in another forum. If its bad form to link to another forum, I'll zap it.

I don't have it right here, but I don't think so. They are full tang, so they are built on the same blank.

That's right up my alley, but I just can't rationalize getting one since I have something similar. Well, if something ever happen to my Mini Canadian . . .

Each summer I take a multi-day, motorcycle camping trip. Next summer, I'm heading west and north through Upper Michigan, and I am seriously considering a "pilgrimage" to the Bark River shop along the way. Do they have a showroom for walk-in customers? I'd love to see the PSK and others in person.

They don't have a showroom, but they have a cabinet in the front office with (when I was there) some truly beautiful knives! Save a few dollars and a little space in your bags for a couple of blades!

AND btw, it is worth meeting Mike and the crew. They are very skilled and super nice people. It'll be a great trip.
