Is this really possible?
I just got to fondle my new SAR3 today. Excellent balance, the knife feels great in my hand.(A little too aggressive on the ridges for my taste however) It came shaving sharp, but not that scare the hairs off of my arm and watch them pop off sharp. So I had to try something, this being my first Busse to own. I have read how easy INFI is to sharpen, so I decided not to do my normal sharpening routine and just stroped it on a non-loaded piece of leather for about 45 seconds. The groves that were on the edge disappeared, the edge is now silky smooth and looks like a polished piece of steel, almost like a mirror. Sheesh, is this thing sharp now, I think my hairs jumped off before they were touched!!
I have seen the destruction videos and read how tough INFI is, it is why I made my first purchase.
This can't be!!! Is it really possible for this to happen? I mean, for me to be able to take steel off that easy on a piece of leather (or seem to take steel off) and yet have the blade hold it's edge and take the beating that I have seen.... from this sharpening experience I would think it would dull after the first cut. It is not like I was taking an edge roll or turn off of it, not like it was over sharpened on one side.
I must test it more tomorrow, see if it really holds this edge, I am totally amazed.
