What I was able to learn (the seller of the knife, Andy, was one source) was that Schrade was making a run for the Lowes proprietary blue bones that Case supplied them. Didn't happen in time. And if you have been in a Lowes lately, you will see the Cases are gone-- replaced with China-made junk brands. I scooped up a half a dozen of the Case knives at bargain prices. I had one of the big display cases spoken for, until an employee took it home... The Case Blue bones make an interesting display next to the Schrades.
Also, although you didn't ask... It seemed like Shrade was also making a bid for the Ruger Firearms knives. We've all seen a few of them, mostly PH2 and Outback models. Case won that battle. Just my opinion, but the knives do not match the firearms for quality.
