I am delerious with joy, as MY Holy Grail of knives came home today!! It is a blue circles Umfaan!! It is amazing!! (THANK YOU Mike Robuck!!) I LOVE this little knife!! It is perfection!! It is so smoooth to open! Yes, I DID take pix of it too!! I will be providing a link to my pix. Here is the link: http://www.flickr.com/photos/spvwolfy/?saved=1

Thanks guys!! I am thrilled!! The gentleman I got it from sent it to CRK to be refurbed. It is spectacular! CRK even sent me a leather slip sheath too. I couldn't be happier!! Pix DO NOT do this knife justice. I NEVER thought I would ever be able to get one.

If anyone deserved an Umfaan, it was TKC. I'm sorry to see it go, but it has a good home now. The black slip case was from a knife my father gave me, but it fit the Umfaan so well I had to pass it along.

CRK replaced the thumb lugs as well when I sent it back.

Enjoy,

Mike

Sweet! I really like that version of the Umfaan and it looks fantastic. The pics of it next to an Arc AAA show how small the knife actually is.

Congrats,

You want that baby for so long we are all happy to see you have it in your hand:) :) :)

Post a mini review if you can

Mike: I thought it was CRK that gave me the leather slip sheath. THANK YOU bunches for that too!! I my little Umfaan!! It is more amazing than expected. The pix do NOT do this little knife justice. I thought the pic with the Arc-P would give folks the idea of it's size.

Its a beautiful knife to say the least. Very impressive. I wish CR still made these. From the first moment you look at the picture of either of these knives, you immediately know they are not just other high quality folders in a crowded knife market. Reeking of artisanship and quality, they stand out in ways that elude the mainstream market.

You gotta nice collection of blades there.

Beautiful Umfaan! The circles are my favorite design, second only to no design at all.

One note about your mnandi. I noticed the thumb nick on your mnandi was different than the way they are currently made. I believe the way it was done on yours was a test by CRK and not many were done that way. The different thumb nick could explain why you have/had trouble opening it.

I do not have trouble opening it anymore!! I have the one handed thing down to a science now with my Mnandi!! I didn't realize that the nail nick was different. Thanks for the info. And thank you all for taking the time to look at my pix too. I DO appreciate it!

I just got back from the post office. I went to pick up my new Umfaan, well new to me anyway. What a great little knife, maybe a little small for my hands but I wanted one to round out my CRK folder collection. Does anyone know how many of these were made?

Mine has the circles but no blue. Very nice little knife, I will use it when I travel to countries that are non knife countries.

Nice score indeed, and good of Mike to pass his along.

Rugbymatt, there were ~40 Umfaans with the blue circles and maybe 60 non colored circle Umfaans, IIRC. There were also 50 numbered pre-production knives with multi-colored circles.

stjames, thanks I didnt really buy it as an investment but I really wanted to know how many were made. I appreciate your info. It is a great little knife and no one would make a peep when you take it out to use it.
