Does anyone know where these might be available? I like my red drone, but have grown accustomed to the black handle's edges. I could swap the handles on my spare black knife, but then you have dangerous confusion of which is which. Any help is appreciated!

Sal,
Does this mean that there will only be the one that Bram gets, or that you will supply Bram exclusively with blue ones for him to distribute?

They are being made for me as LEO only exclusive..
I think this is in another thread as well..
Law Enforcement Officers need the tool for sure...
be safe..

Bram

Bram, I am curious about the reasons for only distributing the blue guntings to LEOs. Could you please explain this. I understand it is your project and you are free to do what you feel is best. What benefits will the CRMIPT have over either a standard gunting or trainer? If you do not want to answer here I would appreciate if you could tell me by email, please. Thanks again.

Bram,

I am a LEO, do you have a website or publication where I'd be able to order that. If needed I can have you ship it to the academy. I work as Correctional Security Officer to the Tennessee Department of Corrections at our training academy. There are several instructors and other officers that may be interested.

Thanks

OK..here goes..Bear with me..
The Gunting is of course a live blade.
The Drone is a trainer AND an impact tool. For the general public its OK for a trainer to also double as a working tool..In most LEO situations thats not OK...
For example Glock has a:
blackk live gun..
a red safe trainer
a blue working tool..
In LEO applications its not OK to set up the situation that a trainer is a working tool..because sometimes it rolls backwards and people then think its OK to use a working tool as a trainer.. a very unacceptable situation..

I carry a Drone as an EDC tool..
so can everyone else..and lo and behold Spyderco makes them ..they're readily avaivable..

The CRMIPT is an LEO only tool..thats how it was designed..and for now at many agencies request and advice it will stay that way..

If you really want an impact tool carry the Drone..
Those of you LEO's that are interested please email me off site..
There is a training program as well..both live time train the trainer and video back up..

Those of you that are LEO and get a CRMIPT you'll still need to buy regular Spyderco Gunting Drones to train with...you cannot train with a CRMIPT..

Thanks guys..
I hope that is a good enough answer without insulting any of you...

Bram

There are no CRMIPTs to be had.. I own the only ones in existence..
they're proto types..
so don't feel that others own them and somehow you non LEO's have lost out or the rules got changed BEFORE you had a chance to buy one..
You NEVER had a chance to buy one cause there are no CRMIPTs yet..
OK??

thanks again...

Bram
PS: First run is yet to offically hit...its coming soon.

Bram, that makes sense. I am not trying to be on your case and I don't feel cheated. I am just a big fan of the system and am very interested. One thing I am still unclear on is whether there will be any functional differences between a drone and the CRMIPT. Please advise.

Hey..what are those "report this post to moderator" thingies on each post? Is that a BF safety thing? hmm never saw them before..
sort of like the yellow house on the corner...HUH? what yellow house?

The CRMIPT has the handles of the black live Blade Gunting: SHARP
The CRMIPT has the blade of the Red training Drone: round & Not sharp

This allows for same non lethal response with a touch more physical persuasion...a touch more physical activation...a touch more person to person reach out and touch someone response..

Other than that its basically a Drone...
And its use is the same..EXCEPT; a CRMIPT cannot be used for training..a DRONE can be used as a trainer and an impact tool.
