Does anyone have experience with the use of blue lenses to help follow a blood trail? Does it really help? Thanks.

Blue filters for your flashlight?

Blue light is supposed to help show blood at night. I have read that blood will appear completely black.

I read that a blue light will show up blood, so I tried it. Not real successful. Remember that a blood trail is likely to be very thin, and a few tiny black spots on the weeds at night is not much going to be much help.

If it lit them up the way it does a dayglo label, THAT would help, but it doesn't. :D

You want a UV light or one with a royal blue luxeon. As always, when talking about these matters, please refer to CPF. ;)

Maybe you should try a "gamefinder", iirc this is a handheld device that tracks the bodyheat of the shot animal and transfers it into a signal

I tried the blue lens on my Surefire Outdoorsman light and didn't have much luck trailing a deer I shot last fall. I think you need a fair amount of blood for it to work. Not really sure if would matter though.

Please don't shoot the Easter Bunny !!!!...As Esav will tell you bunnys don't lay eggs .They buy them from the Passover Chicken.

What we do for tracking if a deer or bear is lost is waite for night, and use a Coleman whitegas lantern. the blood on the ground will luminess.
