Hey BF,

This is more curious than anything, I last applied blue loctite and greased the torsion bar on my ZT 0301 6 months ago. I'm curious if the rattling in the handles returns, what type of affect could putting blue loctite my pivot/handle screws and then loctiting them again, and repeating this process have on the threads in the long run?

Thanks,

Clean off old loctite before applying new thread locker. Wire brush, compressed air, a pick are a few things that help remove stubborn loctite. I've also read fresh loctite dissolves old loctite and can be used to help clean off the old stuff.

When reapplying, only a small amount is necessary.

I'm tired of folders, I have been moving towards only fixed blade carry for sometime. Less maintenance, more robust, the list goes on. The main issue is how to carry a fixed blade in a variety of social settings.

Size, method of carry, sheath all factor in. With the right sheaths a fixed blade is doable, I've been doing it more and more. Lots of sheath options help, which of course means more money.

Your fine. Purple is best like the supply from CRK. But I use Blue and it is fine on my other knives. Just use the same loctite on a q tip and it will remove itself.

Long term it prevents oxidation/rust between the threaded parts. Think properly plastic coated . . . (improperly = oxidation under the plastic like a poorly painted car gets rust under the paint not long after painted).

The rattling is from the torsion bar. Apply grease in the cavity where it resides and the rattling goes away. Adding locktite won't stop it.

Yes I know lol, I said that in my first sentence "I last applied blue loctite and greased the torsion bar on my ZT 0301 6 months ago". My point was, when I add that greese I have to take apart the handle... add the grease and re-apply the blue loctite while putting the handle back together. I was wondering if the process of doing this every 6 months or more would eventually affect the handle screws and pivot.
