I purchased some handle material at the Blade Show last year and I've been looking for more ever since. All I need now is to remember who I bought it from, of course I've slept since I bought it and that usually dumps the program every night. It looks like blue canvas micarta to me. It's not the imitation pearl that some outfits sell. If anyone has run across any I would appreciate the source. Thanks.

Tom, is it a bright blue or a darker blue, cause I have run into some nice blue G10 but I havent found blue micarta cept for the darker blue canvas stuff.

As far as I know there is a blue/black layered canvas micarta available through Koval supply, if its the brighter stuff your looking for and the blue G10 is what it was I got that through Koval too..

Hope I could stir up some memories..

Alan..

Alan, it's kind of a medium blue, 3/8" thick slabs. It doesn't have any black in it. It looks like canvas micarta to me. I might have bought it from Koval's, I honestly don't remember. Maybe I can find some at the Blade Show again this year. I appreciate the reply. Thanks.

The Koval catalog has great color pictures of all the different colors of micarta they carry. Take a look; the pictures are good enough so you should recognize it if it's there.

Cougar,
I found another pair of the blue handle material, my son bought a pair also. They came from Koval's and were purchased at the Blade Show. His had the Koval sticker on them. I swear they look like linen micarta. He also had a pair in a medium brown, it's not rag micarta, and a pair in a dark cream color. Did you notice that I said he "HAD" a pair? I told him to give them up or he is out of the will. Smart son that he is he gave me all of them. Thanks
Tom

Somebody (can't remember who) a couple years ago made some "denim" micarta by cutting up patches out of old Levi's jeans, and smearing (IIRC) marine epoxy over each layer. He then squeezed the stack between two boards covered in wax paper & allowed it to set up. Turned out pretty nice, if memory serves. Maybe I've found a use for all those tie dyed "T" shirts I have left over from the '60's
