I'm Learning how to post pics, so here is one of my fixed blades.
Hanson mosaic damascus, blue mammoth ivory, gold pins, sheath by Schrap.
Thanks for looking.

Edit: Made the picture much bigger with help from my bowie collecting wife.

This too is flat out gorgeous. I don't think you can find mammoth like that anymore and the Damascus is splendid.

That is just first class all the way. Stunning little knife with some exceptional ivory. Great work Don!

Hi Don,

Great looking knife! The mosaic damscus really stands out and speaks to me!

I like the damascus pattern very much, Don. Good work. Congratulations. :)

The knife looks great, but I would love to see a bigger photo, because that would make it much easier to make out the detail.

Despite the fact that I have all sorts of classic fixed blades by many of the great mastersmiths, my Hanson fixed, similar to this one above, is still one of my favorites, amazing knives. If I weren't broke, I'd be wanting this one badly, well, of course I do want it badly, but...

I was just very proud to get it on here at any size :)

You are right Keith, I just made the photo larger with help from my bowie collecting wife :D Check it out now.

Ari, thanks for posting the other Hanson knife.

When yall say mammoth ivory, do yall literally mean mammoth ivory, as in the extinct species???

Yup, it's probably around 50,000-100,000 years old. Walrus ivory is also very nice and of a similar age, and fossilized.

WOW! Where the heck fo you find mammoth ivory?

Mammoth ivory is found in Alaska, northern Canada and Siberia. Ancient walrus ivory is found in Alaska and northern Canada. Ancient walrus ivory can be as little as 500 to as much as 10,000 years old. Mammoths became extinct about 10,000 years ago, but their tusks can be much older than that.

So you just go to one of those places and start digging for mammoth ivory? Do you need and permits or anything?

Man that's the hard way. The easy way is to look for it on ebay :D
You can also buy Mammoth ivory at knife shows.
