Blue Roadie

On the knife shops the pictures make it look a lighter shade of blue, but it is really royal blue, or near to it.

Love the design but i felt like it wasnt the best in terms of cutting geometry. The manbug with its big belly or a hawkbill ladybug are Spydercos best tiny knives imo.

It was not designed as a thin bladed slicer. It has a thicker blade to stand up to heavier use. A Manbug/Ladybug or a Roadie are not big enough to slice apples, and etc. anyway, so, once I got that, I did not mind. It will zip open a box, cut open a mailer, peel and apple or an orange, or anything else I need a tiny knife to actually do.

I should hope youre not attempting to cut apples with a MB/LB/Roadie lol

I still prefer the MB/LB for my smaller scale "heavier" usage. Both have thick enough blades to do all those tasks, and a nice little lockback for a touch of extra safety.

Not knocking you for enjoying the roadie, i loved and used mine (dyed it a nice deep purple). Just felt like my MB/LBs cut better overall. Used to destroy boxes with my H1 hawkbill. Had a harder time with my roadie, but just my experience.

Today I got two big orders in. The two large boxes were heavy weight cardboard, wrapped in thick plastic, then wrapped in thicker plastic. The Roadie sailed through all of it. Because of the blade design I did not have to worry about it cutting too deep.

Maybe i shouldve sharpened mine before i used it. It was used prior to me getting it haha

Haha! That might help. Jazz had me sharpen mine at 30* inclusive on my Sharpmaker and it really helped the cutting performance. I think he thinned his out a bit going towards the edge, but he is crafty like that.

For me the Roadie is the ultimate small knife, and in black anyway it serves admirably as my gentleman folder of choice lately. I have some small traditional knives but I usually choose to carry the Roadie because of my dislike for nail nicks.
I carry it in my Popov Leather pocket armor along with a brass Machine Era classic pen.

Yes, it does well in that role. One thing I did not mention earlier, is that while I have the hawkbill Ladybug and two Manbugs, the Roadie fits my hand better and I have more control. I've got very thick hands, wearing a 2XL glove (USA size). I can get three fingers on the Roadie.

I love my roadie. Since where I am "Penknives" are specifically permitted for carry, its a great little do-all that is beefy enough to handle a lot of tasks. I've got a long (about the length of the handle) barrel knot fob on it, and I find that really improved its ergonomics.

I agree you get more purchase on the roadie, but i do suggest throwing a decent sized lanyard bead on the LB/MB as it will make a world of difference. I didnt carry my manbug until i put a .5in long copper bead on the end, gave me a nice 4 fingers on it!
