has anyone tried this with a strop? From what I've read it seems like it wouldn't do much to knife steels, but I thought I'd ask anyways. I just got a new strop and I already have another with green on it. I was considering making this one a different color.

The Sears blue compound is the only one I have experience with and couldn't really recommend it.

Have you tried Hand American's 12 carat Diamond spray on a strop? Definitely worth considering; my current favorite final finishing strop and puts an absolutely blistering edge on my knives when just touching up. The Yellowstone from Flexcut Gold is also another good one (ever so slightly coarser grit). The only other strop that I'd consider making would be one prepared with the Wood is Good AlOx (nice mirror finish like my Norton 8000 waterstone). My 3 working strops are the yellow, green, and diamond in that order. Give it a shot.

Be safe.

Native, good to hear about the handamerican diamond spray, I think I'll finally buy some. :D
Forget about rouge and get the DMT diamon paste, the results are better and faster. Also try using MDF for a strop, its amazing what a peice of wood can do.

could also order the lapping film and stick it on top of the strop. Did that with some 0.3 micron and e it on occasion.
