Hello all, I have been kicking around the idiea of getting me a blue tooth ear piece for my motrola Krazr K1m phone. I work in a somewhat dusty enviroment so that will be an issue. I want a noise filter for sure. If you guys have one ; Do you use it much and do you like it? I hate to buy toys that sit on the shelf. Can someone recomend a brand and model that would be a good choice? I don't minding spending the money on one I just want to get something that I will enjoy.
Thanks again,
Jay

I have a Jabra not sure of the model# but I really don't like it.You probably should go somewhere where you could see if you could try a couple, because of differences in ears, some of them are more comfortable than others.I had a Planatronics 510 that I really liked, unfortunetly,I lost it.I'm in the process of trying o replace it,the last one I got from one of the discout sellers on Ebay,it worked fine but I've seen others complain that they have gotten some that didn't work.I'm trying t get another on the cheap, just trying to be careful,I hate to pay full price for things, though.

My friend recently picked up a Motorokr S9. They're bluetooth headsets that are also compatible with the mp3 players on your phone. The headset is surprisingly light and comfortable. I'll probably pick one up soon for myself.

I have the Plantronics 665, and just got the 655 for my girlfriend. We both love these earphones. They connect very quickly with my RAZR2 V9 and her RAZR V3. Sound quality is very good and they're super comfortable. I was originally worried they would fall out of my ear easily, but they are quite secure. I haven't tried the optional ear loop at all.

By all means, get yourself a nice Bluetooth earpiece. Just do me a favor. Take the stupid thing off once in a while. ;) There's nothing more annoying than finding yourself seated in a restaurant next to the guy - out to dinner with his family - whose ear incessantly pulses with blue flashes all throughout the meal, and who never actually speaks to anyone. Same goes for the guy at his son's pee wee league baseball game on a Saturday afternoon. We all understand that this person is a vital cog in the day-to-day operations of the local Kinkos chain in which he works, but come on - is your quest for ultimate "connectedness" really worth appearing as though you're some Trekkie who's been assimilated into the Borg?

Technology can be a very useful thing - when taken in moderation.

^ thank god someone else agrees with me on this situation. i just want to kick every person that wears one of these retarded earpieces when they know they are not expecting a call. i feel half the people that wear these just to look important. its one thing if your working with your hands all day and you need the hands freeness(if thats a word) or when your driving and need your hands free, but ive even seen one guy wear one through an entire church service! come on now, people are getting a little out of hand with these things

Honestly, some of these folks look like adult versions of the John Cusack, Darren Harris characters in Sixteen Candles - Cliff and Bryce, I believe it was. :D

Funny cartoon, Coug. :) I am a bit disappointed though that you didn't have a photo of a bluetooth enabled kitty at your immediate disposal. ;) :D

The only time I would ever use one is if I rode a motorcycle/snowmobile and the helmet made it impossible to hold a phone up to your head.

I use mine all the time when I'm at home, in the car, or when I know I need to make a long phone call. Get a quality one and you'll wonder how you ever got by without it. Mine even has a good enough range that I can put my phone in the center of the house connected to the charger and stay on the call all throughout my house. Sure, back in the day we got by with putting the phone on our shoulder and bending our head over, but why do that nowadays when we don't have to?

edit: I have a Plantronics 510. That thing is one of the best 30 dollars I've ever spent.

One of the main reasons I want one is for use in the car. I hate the loss of vision that a cell phone causes. I have seen some graphs on the health issues related to having the phones so close to your head.
thanks again,
Jay

I always kinda thought people who wore them looked like goobers. I've got to work engineering support for broadcast sports sometimes. You may be on a cat walk, aiming a microwave dish, using both hands on equipment in a rack and coordinating with someone on the phone. I've used a tethered earpiece... only when needed, not wearing it around.

Then my workplace replaced our phones with Blackberries. Great for emaiil - suck as phones. The model I have is so flat, it's easy to misalign the earpiece. So... I tried a Bluetooth. Did I change my mind about the goober-look? Nope... it just made sense for work.

How did I like it? Depends... I could hear people great. They just couldn't hear me for crap. Part of it was the noise reduction (ie. phase canceling) tech. Maybe it's the tone of my voice - at 6'3" and 230, it's kinda deep. Either way, I think it frequently defined my voice as white noise and pushed through the canceling phase wave.

Buy one someplace where it can be returned if you don't like it in a couple of weeks, like Circuit City/Verizon. I kept mine for two weeks. I probably still look like a goober but for different reasons. :D
