Blueing a knife blade (Carbon V)...

Does anyone here have experience with blueing a knife blade?
I have tried with two different knives, a CS Gurkha Kukri and a CS ATC, both have Carbon V blades, and I can't get the blueing to take.
I have tried using two different manufacturer's blueing products, also.
Is it that the Carbon V has too much chromium content, thus making it more "stainless"?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks-

Exactly. That's my point/question.

Carbon V is supposed to be a carbon steel, not a stainless one, so it SHOULD blue, but it doesn't.

That's why I was wondering if the chromium content of Carbon V was high enough to make it just "stainless enough".......

Thanks-

Orion,
Have you tried Birchwood casey Super Blue ?
I've had pretty good results with it, of course nothing will be as good as hot blueing
with salts. Try taking a magnet to the carbon
V and something you know is just steel and compare. You can find Birchwood casey Super Blue where ever you find gun stuff. For best results don't polish too much clean with degreaser rinse between coats and buff Lightly with #oooo steel wool. Hope that helps.

An alternative finish I like to use is a soak in lime juice (acetic acid).
Clean the blade, and slip it into a container you do not feel attached to. Cover blade surface with lime juice. Slop off the gray/black crud that forms once in awhile. When satisfied you have a good'even coverage, wash in hot water, and apply a thin coat of good wax or oil.
Turns out kinda like parkerizing.
