Blueing Crystals question

I got a bowl of hot blueing crystals from a freind at the show this weekend so I can give some damascus blueing a try. He's tough to get ahold of so I figure I'll just ask here. I forget the name of the stuff. They're pink crystals from Brownell's. He uses it on the stove top at around 300-350 degrees I think. Anyone know what brand this is and where I can get instructions for use? I'd like to get better instructions on using this stuff since I hear it's pretty damn caustic.

I'll have to look at the color of mine. The stuff that I use you mix with distilled water and keep it boiling point of the water.

I use Niter Blue from Brownells and it is pink crystals. It starts to melt around 300 deg.F but to get a good blue you must raise the temp to just under 600 deg. F so it would take out any hardening at that temp.
I hope what you have is not Niter Blue because of the required temperatures.
If it turns out to be something else that is usable at a lower temp please let us know how i works.
Good luck
